In this comparison test the boys preferred the halogen chicken, but the air-fryer chicken seemed too dry. A shorter cooking time could help. I have owned halogens for years and use it every day. With the different levels and racks my guess would be that the halogen is far more versatile. I cook everything including stews, curries and Christmas roast dinners with all the vegetables. As I have never used an air-fryer I cannot speak to their versatility, but it seems more limited. It's worth paying a bit extra for a hinged lid.
