This recipe is a step by step video of how to make Mung bean Milk rice (Mung eta kiribath). Kiribath is a famous breakfast dish in Sri Lanka and one of my favorite breakfast items as well.
This recipe will help you to make mung bean milk rice in the rice cooker/crock pot. Milk rice can be little tricky to make and I hope this will help you to make a perfect milk rice for the coming New Year.. When making milk rice I try to make it taste really milky, if you don’t like it to be too milky, you can reduce the milk amount in this recipe and increase the water amount…
Ingredients:
1/2 cup mung beans ( I am using smaller beans)
1 Cup of rice (Using basmati rice)
2 1/2 Cup of water
2 1/2 Cup of Coconut milk ( Medium to thick consistency)
1 tsp of salt

Little secret formula for the measurements on this recipe:
Mung beans : 1/2 cups, when you soak this, it will become one cup
Rice : 1 Cup
So its 50:50 mung bean and rice ratio
So after soaking mung beans you have,
1 cup of mung beans
1 cup of rice
You add 2 1/2 cups of water
You add 2 1/2 cups of coconut milk
——So for 2 cups of dry ingredients you add 1/2 more liquid—–
(2 : 2 1/2)
