More people are fishing as the #scubadiving #tourist industry has collapsed. As a result, the price of fish has plummeted and Gina can’t afford to keep it fresh with expensive ice from the mainland, besides the lockdown making this trip difficult.
Gina also exchanges fruit and vegetables with fishers so they have a more balanced diet and her work benefits at least 4000 local people.
Because of the lockdown Gina has also become more important as a fish aggregator as access to mainland markets is difficult for small scale fishers.
