Crispy Simit Recipe π Turkish Sesame Ring Bread

You’ll need
200 ml warm fresh milk
200 ml warm water
160 ml vegetable oil
1 tsp salt
1 tbsp granulated sugar
5 cups all-purpose flour
40 g fresh yeast
To coat
75 ml molasses
Sesame seeds
75 ml water
Here’s how
1- In a large bowl, combine 200 ml of warm fresh milk with 200 ml of warm water, 160 ml of vegetable oil, 1 tsp of salt, 1 tbsp of granulated sugar and 40 g of fresh yeast. Mix thoroughly.
2- Add in approximately 5 cups of all-purpose flour gradually while kneading by hand. Carry on kneading to form a smooth and soft to touch dough.
3- Cover with a tea towel and set aside for 30 minutes to let the dough rise.
4- Meanwhile, mix 75 ml of molasses with 75 ml of water.
5- Take tangerine sized pieces from the dough and roll into balls.
6- Divide each ball into 2 pieces.
7- Roll each piece into a long rope and wrap them over each other, then meet the ends to form a ring.
8- Dip each ring first into molasses mixture then dip in sesame seeds, making sure they are fully coated with the seeds.
9- Place them on a parchment lined baking tray.
10- Bake for 20-25 minutes in an oven preheated at 200 Β°C.
11- Crunchy simit is ready to serve.
