Soda bread is a variety of quick bread traditionally made in a variety of cuisines in which sodium bicarbonate is used as a leavening agent instead of the traditional yeast. The ingredients of traditional soda bread are flour, baking soda, salt, and buttermilk.

Instructions to a simple no yeast grandma’s Irish soda bread recipe anybody can bake:
– First, in a large bowl sift and add 4 cups of AP flour
– Now add 1 tsp of baking soda
– Followed by 1 tsp of salt
– And finally, pour in your 1 3/4 cup buttermilk OR 1 3/4 cup buttermilk with 1 tsp of vinegar
– Mix everything together in the bowl
– Preheat the oven to 425 F
– Start kneading your dough
– Once you have a large ball of dough, score a plus sign onto the top
– In an oven-safe dish of your choice, add your dough
– Cover the entire pan in aluminum foil
– Bake in the oven for 30 minutes
– Take the aluminum foil off the dish
– Bake for another 15 minutes and your soda bread is ready to serve
