Homemade Tapioca/Boba Pearls From Scratch |Simple And Easy Recipe
Tapioca balls are translucent spheres; a product of tapioca, a starch extracted from the cassava root. They are also known as boba (a transliteration of the word “bubble”), or “pearls” when in bubble tea
1/3 cup water
1/4 cup brown sugar
1 cup tapioca starch ( This recipe will only work with Tapioca starch)
1/4 tsp black food dye (optional)

Notes:
1. Please sprinkle sugar on the readied/cooked pearls after draining it so they don’t stick together.
2. Adding the black food dye is optional. If you don’t want any food dye on your food then you can skip that part. Using brown sugar can make the pearls brown in color anyway.
3. Once the cooked pearls are cooled down, they become even more darker (blacker).
4. Although, it takes time when rolling each pearl but it’s worth it. They are not perfectly round but it is much better to have these pearls than nothing at all. Because it is not available in my location, available maybe but can’t find any 🙂 So it is very helpful to me since my children loves black pearls on their milk tea.
