Classic Christmas Eve dish at our Homeโฅ๏ธ๐ Fried chicken schnitzel and Potato salad ๐โฅ๏ธ RECIPE BELOW ๐
For those who don’t know- we are from the Czech Republic ๐จ๐ฟ๐ and this dish is cooked in the Czech Republic on Chrismas eve๐ – fried chicken or fried fish with potato salad- which consists of – cooked potatoes, carrots, parsley, pickles and mayonnaise (and some other stuff, basically every family has it’s own twist on this dish, someone adds peas, someone onion, someone eggs ๐โฃ๏ธ๐)
RECIPE ๐๐ฅ for 2 people
FRIED CHICKEN๐
Ingredients:
-2 chicken breasts
-all purpose flour
-2 eggs
-bread crumbs (we used panko)
-salt
-frying oil
Instructions:
1.cut the chicken breast to 4 steaks
2.season the steaks
3.prepare the wrapping station- one plate with the flour, one plate with the bread crubs, and one plate with the eggs (salted)
4.first cover the breast in the flour, then in the egg wash, then in the bread crumbs.
5.medium pan, medium heat, add couple centimetres of frying oil. When heated add the chicks.
6.fry from both sides until golden
7.serve with piece of lemon, and squeeze it on the schnitzel ๐คฉโฃ๏ธ๐
POTATO SALAD๐ฅ
-aprox 8 medium size potatoes
-3 big carrots
-2 parsley roots
-piece of celery root
-pickled cucumbers
-pickled peppers
-4 big spoons of mayo
(Optional – little bit of lemon juice or the water from the pickles- it’s delicious in the salad๐โฃ๏ธ)
Instructions:
1.clean and dice the carrots, parsley, and celery. Boil in the salted water, until cooked.
2.clean the potatoes, and cook them whole with the skin (also in the salted water). After cooked -let it cool down a little, and peel. Also dice.
3.dice the pickles.
4.mix all the ingredients together
