You’ll need
50 cm radius phyllo pastry
For the meatball
400 g ground beef
1 egg
1 onion
1 clove of garlic
ΒΌ cup bread crumbs
Salt, pepper,red pepper flakes
To brush the pastry
2-3 tbsp melted butter
For the sauce
1 cup grated tomatoes
1 tbsp melted butter
Pepper
Salt
To Serve with
Natural plain yogurt
Chopped fresh parsley
Here’s how
1- Grind 1 onion with 1 egg and 1 clove of garlic with a food processor.
2- In a mixing bowl, combine 400 g of ground beef with a ΒΌ cup of breadcrumbs, black pepper, red pepper flakes, salt and onion mixture. Knead thoroughly.
3- Line an oven tray with parchment paper.
4- Take pieces from the ground beef mixture and give them a long and flat form. Keep the patties as thin as possible to cook easily.
5- Bake in an oven preheated at 190 Β°C until brown.
6- Place half of the phyllo pastry on the kitchen counter and brush with the melted butter.
7- Align the cooked patties through the wide side of the phyllo. Then, fold the phyllo and roll.
8- These ingredients yield 2 rolls. If patties are prepared thinner, you can have more phyllo rolls.
9- Cut the roll diagonally into 3 cm thick bite-size pieces.
10- Place them on a parchment lined oven tray.
11- Brush with melted butter and bake again until golden brown.
12- For the sauce; melt 1 tbsp of butter and add 1 cup of grated tomatoes. Let it boil for about a minute or two. Add salt and pepper. Turn off the stove.
13- Arrange the kebaps on a serving dish around bulgur pilaf or plain natural yogurt, making a circle as you see and drizzle with the tomato sauce.
