Easy Siopao Asado
Here’s the best and easy recipe of homemade Siopao Asado. This sweet and savory steam buns can be filled with asado or bolabola. It is a popular snack sold mostly in Chinese restaurants or by sidewalk vendors in the Philippines. But my favorite version of it all is from Iloilo’s famous Roberto’s restaurant. So since living abroad, I can’t get ahold of it anytime I want to. But then, I tried to copy it’s signature taste as possible. I wanna share with you this best tasting and easy recipe Siopao Asado. I hope you will enjoy it as much as i did 🙂
Here’s what you’ll need:
Siopao Dough:
1 cup warm water
1 tbsp sugar
1 tbsp active dry yeast
2 and 1/2 cup all purpose flour
3 tbsp sugar
1 tbsp baking powder
3 tbsp vegetable shortening (or 1 tbsp oil)
Asado Filling:
1 onion (chopped)
4 cloves garlic (chopped)
500 grams shredded chicken (boiled and seasoned)
1/4 cup soy sauce
3 tbsp oyster sauce
3 tbsp sugar
1 and a half cup water
star anise
1/2 tsp salt
1 tsp pepper
chorizo de bilbao
1 tbsp cornstarch diluted in 1/4 cup water
