You can make this when you have stale bread at home, very easy to make and can be a comfort food to many people..Usually its served with Jam or jelly as the pudding is not too sweet, unless you want to add sugar to the custard made. You can definitely eat as is!
I am not adding sugar in this recipe, just sprinkling on top to caramelize when baking, but the raisins and dried cranberries adds a little sweetness. If you don’t like raisins you can skip them and add something you like, dried fruit, cashews etc.,

Ingredients:
For Custard:
One large egg
One large egg yolk
600ml Whole milk (Full fat milk)
12 Slices of white bread (this depends according to the side of the dish)
Butter to spread on the bread slices
1/4 cup raisins or as needed
1/4 cup dried cranberries or as needed
3 tbsp of sliced almonds
Lemon zest
Grated nutmeg
Little brown sugar to sprinkle on top
Bake;
In 350 degree fahrenheit for about 30-40 minutes until the top is golden brown
