Silky smooth crème caramel on top of a rich chocolate sponge..One of the most requested videos! I think this is one of the best combinations out there..I have tried vanilla cake with flan and I think Chocolate cake is definitely the right combo! You should definitely give this a try!

INGREDIENTS:

CARAMEL:
-100g (1/2 cup) Sugar, using granulated
-50-60ml (1/4 cup) Warm water
🔺Use a heavy bottom pan to make caramel, helps to distribute heat evenly

CUSTARD:
-2 large eggs, room temperature
-118ml (1/2 cup) Heavy whipping cream, room temperature
-236ml (1 cup) Milk, room temperature
-30g (1/8 cup+1 tsp) Sugar
-5 g (1 tsp) Vanilla extract

CHOCOLATE SPONGE:
-2 large egg whites, room temperature
-2 large egg yolks, room temperature
-75g (1/3 cup) Sugar, using granulated
-45g (1/3 cup) All purpose Flour
-15g (1/8 cup) Cocoa powder, not using dutch processed
-27ml (2 tbsp) Vegetable oil, any oil that doesn’t have a strong smell or a taste
-15ml (1 tbsp) Milk , room temperature (regular milk/whole milk/full fat)
-3g (1/2 tsp) Vanilla extract

PAN:
-8 inch round pan

BAKE:
Pre heat oven to 320F/160C degrees for 20 minutes and bake for 40-45 minutes until a skewer inserted comes out clean.
-Bake in a water bath uncovered
