Famous Hawaiian Buns – Homemade Soft Sweet Fluffy
Today I am making the Famous Hawaiian Buns. These sweet homemade yeast buns are a copycat of the King’s Hawaiian rolls. This bread is sweet and soft and a delight to eat. Recipe ingredients are below. I found this recipe at the King Arthur Baking web site. They turned out wonderful.
Sponge
1/4 cup bread flour
1 tablespoon instant yeast
2 tablespoons water (I recommend 3)
Dough
2 3/4 cups bread flour
2 tablespoons potato flour (I used dried potato flakes made fine in a grinder)
1 1/4 tsp salt
1/2 cup pineapple juice (boiled and cooled)
4 tablespoons melted butter
1/3 cup brown sugar
2 eggs plus 1 egg yoke (save the one egg white for latter)
1 tsp vanilla extract
Bake at 350 F for 25 minutes
