A new year is here, and eating healthy and working out is on top of our priority list. we all know how hard it is to keep up after the 2nd week or so. but it’s all about balance, and here’s a healthy (and really easy) way to make sure we get our daily fill of fruits and veggies in!
Juicing has become really popular, but it requires another contraption and it takes forever to clean up. So I’ve found an easier way juice – with a blender!
Let’s start off with some kale. As you’ve probably heard, Kale is one of the healthiest vegetables on earth. It has even more vitamin C than an orange.
Pears are a high fiber fruit. Filling up on fiber keeps you full and regular and it will help prevent bloating.
Pineapples contain bromelain, an enzyme that may help arthritis pain by reducing inflammation. They are also a good source of vitamin C.
A cucumber is 95% water, and is great for keeping you hydrated. Hiyah! – oops.
Celery is a great stress reliever. It has minerals like magnesium, and other essential oils that soothe the nervous system. So a celery-based snack in the evening, will help you sleep better.
Ginger has several medicinal properties. It helps with digestion, motion sickness, and inflammation. But it’s also great for helping your body absorb nutrients too.
Lemon is a natural cleanser; it helps support your immune system and kidney health.
And some water for extra hydration.
Now it’s time to start juicing, in a blender. Make sure your fruits and veggies are washed and cleaned. Add in your 3 leaves of chopped up kale, some green pear, some pineapple chunks, a little bit of cucumber, chopped up celery, a small piece of ginger, a little bit of lemon – peeled. a little bit of water to get the blender going, and now give it a whirl.
Once it’s smooth, turn off the blender and pour some of the blended juice into a cup. I like to do half smoothie and half juice because it gives me the fiber i need! Then, take your nut bag. THis is a nut bag that you can find at your local health food store. It’s sometimes used for almond milk and stuff like that, but it works great for this as well. Take your nut bag, and pour the rest of the contents in. With clean hands, start to squeeze all the juice out. Open up the bag, and see that the leftover contents is just dried out fiber. Congratulations, you’ve just sucked out all the nutrients. Now, drink your juice right away while the nutrients are fresh, and enjoy all the health benefits!
