Yes, you can make a super unique and delicious syrup using nothing more than immature conifer cones (pine, spruce, and fir are your best bets! The biggest toxic lookalike in the conifer family is the yew, whose cones are covered in bright red fruity flesh so should be easy to avoid. Of course, if at all in doubt, just avoid altogether!)
