Recipe: (4 x 6inch layers)
1/2 C. Unsalted room temperature butter (113g)
1/2 C. Vegetable oil (120ml)
1 1/2 C. Granulated sugar (330g)
2 2/3 C. Cake flour (425g)
1 1/2 Tbsp Baking powder (22g)
Pinch of salt
1 C. Buttermilk (250ml)
2 tsp extract (use clear extract like almond)
6 Egg whites

β οΈTIPS:
1. Baking strips (or damp towels) help the cake bake more evenly, no burnt edges, and get you that flat top you want.
2. Grease your pans really well! This is what I use ππΌ (I highly recommend it)
3. Do not over-mix at all stages (flour, buttermilk, and when you fold the egg whites into the mix)
4. You can definitely use all purpose flour, or you can make cake flour at home ππΌ
