The Jetboil is a classic backpacker stove because it boils water incredibly fast and is highly efficient. But that doesn’t tell the full story. So move over Jetboil, I’m ditching you for another stove. Here’s why.

  1. The Mini mo isnโ€™t as tall and has good simmer control

  2. I bought the cheap folding wing stand accessory for my jetboil which allows for any receptacle you want to put over the burner. Using the cup exclusively is not enough reason for me to switch platforms (love msr stuff too).

In your defense, jetboil is a little snotty in their design, and the cooking implements that work BEST on top… with the trademark heat baffles welded to the bottom like the cup, are not cheap. Their platform is most compatible with itself, however, you can get the folding wing device that allows for anything to sit on the burner, including msr pots etc. I bought in, so I'll stay, but msr will likely be my next purchase, down the road.
PS – I've used my jetboil twice a day at work for years on end, problem free, even the ignitor button hasn't failed yet and I've pushed it maybe a thousand times. Very durable stuff. MSR wins the space and weight battle for sure, and can probably claim it was first to Mt Everest ๐Ÿ˜‚

PPS – Jetboil offers a coffee plunger screen. If you flip it over, you can steam veggies in there ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ™ƒ

  3. Jetboil for making coffie water when on a motorbike adventure and firebox for the food…. Yes its not a fast way 2 make food with the firebox, iam not in a hurry. It a trip and not a race… But been wondering about the pocketstove … hmm.. Well well.. Time will show
