Homemade Corn Bread in a Cast Iron Skillet from Scratch
Homemade Corn Bread made from Danny Corn that I grew in my Deep South Texas Three Sisters Garden this year. I remove the kernels from the cobs, grind the corn in a grist mill, separate out the corn meal and then make fabulous corn bread. Step by step directions to make this homemade bread in a cast iron skillet. Using purchased corn meal is fine. Recipe ingredients below.

9 inch cast iron skillet
1 Tablespoon Bacon Drippings

1 cup Cornmeal
1 cup All Purpose Flour
1/4 cup Sugar
1 tsp Salt
2 tsp Baking Powder
1/2 tsp Baking Soda

2 Eggs lightly beaten
1 1/4 cup Buttermilk
8 Tablespoons Butter, 1 stick, melted and cooled

Bake at 400 F for 20 to 30 minutes
